Daily life in WW2? [Nov. 3rd, 2008|01:33 pm]

Hi all (well, everyone who is still watching the comm...I know the last entry here was a couple of years ago, but I figured asking is worth a shot anyway.) I'm looking for some good books, articles, or websites on daily life in Japan just before, during, and/or just after World War 2. Someone on another forum suggested "Memoirs of a Geisha," but I'd really rather have something a bit more factual or scholarly if that would be possible. This isn't for homework, just my own personal curiosity -- it seems like I never have a hard time finding info about battles, but try to find something about the regular people of the time and it's almost impossible. Thanks!

If you're interested in Non-Fiction, I highly recommend "Japan At War" by Haruko Taya Cook & Theodore Cook. It's an oral history based on interviews with Japanese who lived through the war.
